Story : 'Nerve' is about an online dare game, in which people give participants anonymous dares for money. The participants compete with each other to win the grand prize as the dares get tougher. Things get worse when the tasks get increasingly dangerous and lives are at stake.

In the film, it literally means: those who watch the online game and those who play it. But it applies to real life. Are you a risk-taker, a rule-breaker, or do you just sit back and seek entertainment from the life of others?

Vee (Emma Roberts) has always been a watcher, but decides to switch things up after her quiet, back-of-the-class existence is disrupted by a humiliating rejection from the hot football player she crushes on.

She participates in Nerve, an online game where players are given outrageous dares by viewers, in exchange for money. Vee starts out simple: kissing a stranger called Ian (Dave Franco), trying on an expensive dress, getting a tattoo, etc. The watchers love Ian and Vee together, so they form an alliance and go for the kill, without knowing that the game might just kill them.

Nerve is a timely commentary on the scary side of social media. Everything’s fair in the war of getting the most Likes. The near-accurate portrayal of the thirst for popularity in today’s teens is unsettling.
