Bale Vellaya Theva wants to be a simple rural comedy with minimal stakes, but what it eventually turns out to be is a plotless film where neither the comedy nor the drama works. The film revolves around Sakthivel (Sasikumar), a young man who moves into Vayalur, with his postal worker mother (Rohini). He gets close to ‘Selfie’ Kaathaayee (Kovai Sarala, trying hard in an underdeveloped role) and Kanakku (Sangili Murugan), an elderly childless couple in the place. The former has a habit of trying out the items that are advertised on teleshopping channels, while the latter distributes pirated DVDs, just to spite his relative and the village’s big shot Sundaram, who runs a cable TV network in the village. Sakthi and Sundaram have a run-in, and subsequently, Sakthi teams up with Kanakku to ruin Sundaram’s business. Meanwhile, he also falls in love with Thanikodi (Tanya), the son of the local butcher (Balasingh), who might be harbouring a secret.
